A Yard Full of Inspiration

All of the following photos were taken in my front and back yards today.
How can a weaver see these fabulous colors and patterns and not be inspired?

I love my yard this time of year!

This Saturday, May 8th I will be sitting in an Iris garden with my weaving as part of the Aromas Country Garden Tour. You will have the opportunity to tour 9 gardens and visit with artists in some of them. The event is a fundraiser for the Aromas Hills Artisans. Hope you will stop by if you are near. 1. Have you ever made flowers with your woven inkle bands?

  2. Do you mean woven a flower pattern into it, or constructed a flower from a woven band?

  3. I love your yard too! Gorgeous photos. My roses have little tiny leaf buds waiting for warmer temps.

  4. constructed a flower from a woven band. the petals in the photographs remind me of the delicate loops one can create with very fine yarn 10/2 or 16/2 perle cotton inkle bands.

  5. Hmmm... I can't quite picture this. Well, I did just learn a Japanese way of folding fabric into a flower and maybe it could be adapted. I wish I could see what is in your mind.

  6. That second picture down--do you know what those flowers are? They appeared in my garden underneath my roses.

    Beautiful colors!

  7. Yes, Melissa. It's a nasturtium. They come in a range of colors from rust to orange to pale yellow. They are annuals, but tend to re-seed themselves very capably here. They are wonderful and require little attention, which is what works best in my yard.

  8. Thanks! Now I know what to look for, and where they will do well in the garden. I'll keep my eyes open for seeds, next. :)
