Weaving and how it relates to Mental Health

My husband says that the more looms I have set up and going at once, the better that speaks for my mental health. If I'm feeling good and creative I may start lots of stuff. With inkle looms the projects are all small enough that I always finish them.
This week I have 3. I needed one or two for demonstrating at the conference this weekend. I thought it would be fun to make another strap with beads in the borders, as I haven't done one in a while. I used to put the beads on the weft, but found it much easier to put them on an outside warp and slide two into place every inch or so.

I needed some more wide sashes for my event at the Fort the following weekend, so here is what I started.

Recently I wove some silk ribbon for a friend to use as stampede straps on his Californio hat. I made one long piece, cut and finished them per his instruction.
He said that it works great. Maybe other re-enactors could find use for a handmade silk ribbon.
I have a stash of silks given to my by another weaver. They were small amounts, not much for larger items, but enough for me to do something with.

  1. Nice! I haven't tried adding beads in a while. Never found a favorite pattern. They always seemed overdone. I like the edge treatment.

  2. I'm with your husband! More looms going = happiness! The sashes look wonderful. I love the beaded border, a little something without being too much. Pretty pattern too.
