Look What Followed Me Home from the Guild Meeting Yesterday

Recently an esteemed member of our weavers' guild, Nora Rogers,  passed away. Members donated their time to sort through her belongings and find homes for many things. I am honored to have been chosen to receive her inkle loom.  Look how sweet this little loom is!  It is very exciting to have the wooden rigid heddle on it

.

Nora Rogers, among other things, was the author of the book, In Celebration of the Curious Mind.
She enjoyed weaving, the study of pre-Columbian textiles, gardening and music and had been active in the Santa Cruz Handweavers Guild since 1972. In her honor, she asked that contributions be made to Center for Traditional Textiles of Cusco, Peru    The guild has named for her it's annual series of fiber arts lectures which are held at the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History. She will be missed greatly by the group.

Also, a fellow member gifted me with this gorgeous sash, one of many sashes that her mother had collected.
I don't recognize the style or pattern and would love to know something about it. Does anyone recognize this and can suggest where it might be from?  One of my super-fantasies is to have a map of the world with sashes from everywhere!!!

The speaker at our guild meeting yesterday was George-Ann Bowers who makes double-weave tapestries inspired by nature. Her process is very interesting with lovely results. What a treat!

  4. I shudder to think what my husband would do with my weaving and spinning stuff. Thank God I have daughters who would keep him from trashing it all!
