What to do with a tie-dyed t-shirt

Repurposed items really show how creative people can be.
While shopping around on Etsy one day, I found this hank of "yarn".
It is made of a tie-dyed t-shirt. Mike of NorthStreetCrochet made it by cutting the whole shirt into one continuous strip. I had to have it.

Mike was very nice and told me that if I wanted to learn the secret of how it was done, I could find a YouTube video. Indeed I did, and I'll try it sometime.
For now, I am weaving the purchased yarn into a guitar strap. Strangely, it was exactly the right amount. While it is in process, you can clearly see that it is a tie-dyed t-shirt. Will it be obvious when the weaving is done?
