Inkle looms are available for loan. Students will need to purchase yarn.
Inkle weaving is a type of
warp-faced weaving that was brought to the US in the 1930's and even
mentioned in Shakespeare's play, Love's Labour's Lost. This class will
introduce students to the wondrous possibilities of weaving warp-faced
bands on this simple loom. Learn basic setup, pattern planning and
weaving with even selvedges. Many examples will be presented and several
types of pick up patterns will be discussed anddemonstrated.
Instructor: Annie MacHale
began weaving at 17 on an inkle loom she built with her father's help.
Exploring the limitless possibilities of weaving warp-faced bands on
this simple, often overlooked loom has become a lifelong pursuit. An
experienced teacher, Annie also demonstrates regularly at festivals and
fairs near her home in Soquel, CA. Her work is currently on display in
several galleries as well as her online shops.
