April Showers Bring........Scarves!

Nasturtiums in my Backyard

Inspired by the local flora, I decided to weave some Spring scarves this week.
Someone recently commented that she had not considered weaving scarves on an inkle loom. Neither do most people. It's sort of an unusual thing to do which is one more reason that I enjoy it. Mostly it is just entertaining because of the yarns I get to use. Texture and mixed colors in variegated yarns create interesting scarves.

Scarves woven from Mixed Warps

These grow on the corner at the end of my block and are extremely vibrant in full sun!

I'm off to learn backstrap weaving and will check in later...........
Have a colorful day!

  4. Beautiful, beautiful scarves and I love all the texture from the mixed yarns. Probably why I enjoy the Saori style so much.

Can;t wait to hear about your experiences with the back strap loom.

Have you ever tried a traditional Navajo loom?

  5. Thanks for the nice comments about my scarves. I really do enjoy combining yarns like this; I think of it as a form of collage.
Pam- No, I have never tried Navajo weaving. Maybe when I am living in New Mexico the opportunity will arise. Day one of the backstrap class was mind bending. Resting for tomorrow. ~A
