My inkle loom uses string heddles to divide the threads into 2 layers. Threads on one layer go through string heddles while threads on the other layer do not go through heddles, therefore they are in the "open". The way you worded your question, it sounds to me like you are using a rigid heddle with your backstrap setup, is that right? If so, you will thread one layer through the holes and the other layer will go through the slots. It doesn't matter which is which; the pattern will come out the same either way.
Have fun!Annie MacHalehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12664018382440495900noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4842874878197429929.post-61699355930349207422024-03-14T12:41:20.779-07:002024-03-14T12:41:20.779-07:00Can I use these patterns on a back strap loom? They are a lifesaver for those of us who struggle with where to begin!

I'm very pleased with the woven results and just love the sheen and drape of the brlt! I did have to endure sticky warp syndrome, but it was totally worth it 🙂

Finished belt is 1.75" wide and 63" Long

Loom: Ashford Inkle (not fully warped)

Pattern: 6th draft slightly modified to accommodate my bulky weight yarn on the limited width of the inkle loom.

Warp: Fibre Co Tundra (60% Alpaca 30% Merino Wool 10% Silk, 119yds (109m)/3.5oz, Bulky) in Baby Beluga
Weft: Patons Bamboo Silk (70% Bamboo/39% Silk., DK-2) in light grey/stone

Currently, I am soaking the belt to allow the yarn to bloom/blossom, lol. I left the fringe out of the water as I'm not sure if I am going to braid it, leave as is (probably not), or finish the ends and add a slide type buckle. For now, I will just tie it around.NanaKnitshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09094914512777520291noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4842874878197429929.post-89942674814371804572023-03-04T15:13:02.621-08:002023-03-04T15:13:02.621-08:00Thank you for sharing your patterns! I was looking for inkle patterns that were already wide enough for guitar straps without having to modify the pattern too much, and here you are. I will modify enough to add 1/2 inch since my husband likes 1/2 inch straps.
