Inside, every nook and cranny was filled with art.
My dad, his friend Mabel and I had a lovely visit with Mrs. Colin while soaking in the colorful atmosphere that Mr. Colin's art provided. What a treat! George, 82, is represented by the Art Stop Gallery and you can see more of his work here on the website . The self-taught artist began drawing in the 1950's on paper gleaned from dumpsters and amassed a collection of more than 7,000 paintings before he was"discovered" a few years ago. His body of work includes over 10,000 drawings and paintings as well as more than 4,000 pieces of wooden folk art furniture and sculpture.
One of my favorite George Colin pastels, although representative of New Mexico, not Illinois.
I loved all of the bright colors, and want to weave some pieces using some of
George's color combinations.
This one keeps popping into my mind even though it's more than a week later. I don't usually like abstract paintings. I'm thinking about a guitar strap with these colors.
